Among the latest events in the countryside calendar to be cancelled is the ‘La Ferme Farm Fun Day’, due to be held on Saturday 25 July. The organisers have taken the decision to cancel the event in light of the current and ongoing restrictions issued by the Government.
This much loved countryside event at the Perchard family’s dairy farm in Rozel has been a charity fund-raiser, held in alternate years, comprising the usual mix of farm and rural based activities with demonstrations, musical entertainment, tractor rides, many food outlets, games and stalls.
It has been an opportunity to learn how milk is produced as well as giving everyone the chance to enjoy a pleasant day in the country with all sorts of attractions, food and entertainment, tours of the dairy unit and the chance to see the prizewinning Ansom herd of pedigree Jersey cows and tractor and trailer rides. All the proceeds have been split between local charities.
Robert Perchard of La Ferme Farm described the event as a fun-filled and informative day out for the family, a chance for people to connect with their rural heritage, understand the workings of a dairy farm, revel in the entertainment and generally enjoy themselves in the beautiful St Martin countryside.’
The remaining events of the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society’s annual programme are Summer Flower Show (22 and 23 August) and the Autumn Fair (3 and 4 October). It is hoped that that these event can go ahead as planned.
