JERSEY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA’S SUMMER CONCERT

The ‘JSO’ is resuming its regular concert programme after the break caused by the pandemic.

Its ‘Summer Concert’ will take place in the hall of Le Quennevais School at 7.30pm on Saturday 14 August.

Gerard Le Feuvre will be the soloist, playing Elgar’s Cello Concerto.

This will be the first concert conducted by the Orchestra’s musical director, Hilary Davan Wetton. Although he took up his post in early 2020, Covid has meant that there have been no concerts since then for him to conduct.

The full programme will be:

Copland:  Fanfare for the Common Man           

Glinka:     Overture. Ruslan and Ludmilla     

Elgar:       Cello Concerto                          

Interval

Grieg:        Morning and In the Hall of the Mountain King                                                          

Smetana:   Die Moldau (Vltava)                 

Vaughan Williams: Fantasia: Greensleeves.     

Bizet:       Carmen Suite No.1                           

Encore:   Coates: March The Dam Busters.
