THE directors of The Jersey Royal Company finally concluded negotiations with Greenvale, and have announced that the company is now officially part of the AIM listed company, Produce Investments plc (owners of the Greenvale brand).
Managing director Tom Binet said: ‘Although this is a major step for both The Jersey Royal Company and The Kent Potato Company, we must be mindful that we are joining a business with which we have been associated for well over 20 years, and which has a very similar culture to our own. In addition to this, Greenvale is one of the strongest businesses in the UK potato sector and this will undoubtedly serve us very well in what has become a very competitive market, both here in Jersey and in the UK.’
Marketing director William Church added: ‘The past couple of years have been very testing, and The Jersey Royal Company moves into this new era in a really good shape.
‘Th take=over is also great news for Greenvale as they now have one of the strongest new potato brands as part of their portfolio, long-term access to a range of new customers and a strong, well invested presence in the South East of England.’
Operationally, The Jersey Royal Company will retain its own identity, as will The Kent Potato Company, though the latter will be gradually integrated with the main Greenvale business, due to the similar nature of the undertaking.
