FLOWER AND GARDEN EVENTS AT THE RJA&HS

Early Summer Flower Virtual Online Show

Following the cancellation of the society’s Summer Country Fair, which included the Early Summer Flower Show, it has been decided to hold a ‘virtual on-line show’ next month so that members and non-members are able to showcase what they have been growing.

Details of how to enter are available from the society’s horticultural secretary, Rachelle Robinson: rachelle@royaljersey.co.uk.  The closing date for entries is Monday 8June 2020.

Exhibitors must be members of the Society, 10 years of age or over to enter any of the classes listed; non-members may enter the Adult Floral Arranging classes and children who are non-members may enter the Children’s Floral Art and Children’s Fruit and Vegetable classes.

Details of the Show, plus a copy of the schedule and entry form are also available from our website –  http://royaljersey.co.uk/horticulture/shows/

All-Island Garden Competition

The Society is hoping that the All Island Garden Competition can go ahead in July and some changes to how the gardens and allotments will be judged to respect any social distancing regulations that may still be in place.

The judging of the competition is due to take place on Tuesday, Wednesday  and Thursday  14-16 July and is sponsored again by Ransoms Garden Centre.  It has been decided that only the judges and the horticultural secretary, Rachelle Robinson, will be in attendance when judging gardens or allotments.  All garden/allotment owners are asked to submit with their entry forms  a maximum 500-word resumé to describe their  garden/allotment, its history, how it was put together and what it means to the entrant.  A small video of the garden can be provided with the  resumé and entry form if competition entrants wish.

Entry is free for members of the RJA&HS with a small entry fee of £5 for non-members who wish to enter.  Entry forms (for one classs only) should be returned to Rachelle by Monday 6 July, either by post or by email to rachelle@royaljersey.co.uk.

Entry forms for completion that detail all the classes are also available from the society’s website – http://royaljersey.co.uk/horticulture/garden-competition/
