Chairperson required for JET
The Jersey Employment Trust is looking for a new chairperson for its Board of Trustees. JET is a charitable trust set up to provide specialist support services for people who have a disability or long-term health condition to find and maintain paid employment. It runs a number of business units through Acorn Enterprises, including a re-use store, plant nursery and the Woodshack.
Ideally, the prospective candidate will have a keen interest in both disability issues and employment matters, as well as good interpersonal skills, social awareness and a strong commitment to equal opportunities. The chair is required to attend four meetings a year and occasional ad hoc advisory sessions with the management team. This post represents an excellent opportunity for someone to reinvest their experience in a worthwhile charitable initiative, either via corporate responsibility or individual basis.
The outgoing chairman Geoff Cook, who is former chief executive of Jersey Finance, has held the post for five years.
