The annual Jersey concert by pianist Penelope Blackie takes place on Tuesday 25 October in aid of the John Lobb Memorial Trust.
The programme includes Bach’s Partita No 2 in C Minor; Schubert’s Four Impromptus Op 90l; Ravel’s Sonatine; Beethoven’s Sonata No 8 in C Minor (‘Pathétique’)
Penelope Blackie’s repertoire is conventional, from Bach to Prokofiev, but her performances are not, characterised as they are by the emotional depth and subtlety of touch usually associated with pianists of an earlier era – but with the structural integrity demanded of today’s performers.
The John Lobb Memorial Trust has for the last 41 years assisted young musicians in the Island in their endeavours to make music their career.
The concert at the Jersey Arts Centre begins at 8pm.
