If you’ve driven past Carrefour Selous recently and wondered about the sign outside David Hick Antiques … then as the festive season approaches you might like to visit the exciting new ‘shopping experience’ called The Trading Point.
It opened in July as a ‘hub’ for local creative businesses and it’s already home to around 34 such businesses offering rooms full of beautiful objects created in Jersey or by artisans with close Jersey links. Artwork and handmade ceramics, linens, hand-poured candles, children’s wear, home fragrances, organic skin ranges, crafts, local food produce – and so much more! Some from established artisans and creatives, others from brand new local businesses!
If you know the (online) brand ‘Found in France’ – with its wonderful array of soaps, ceramics, linens, candles and other artisan products sourced from just across the water – then you’ll find them at the front of the store. In fact, it’s the entrepreneur behind ‘Found in France’, Denise Nicholls, who set up The Trading Point with another local businessperson Salima Frigot – a ‘physical’ shop where you can do more than buy … you can touch and smell and experience the products in the beautiful historic setting of the old David Hick Antique shop!
You might have already found it, but if not and if you’re looking for interesting and different gifts, especially for Christmas, then you might fancy visiting The Trading Point Christmas Market at David Hick on Friday 19th November (10am-7pm) and Saturday 20th November (10am-5pm).
The existing Trading Point businesses will be joined by more than 20 Genuine Jersey stall holders offering even more local products in the David Hick Antiques showroom, so there will be more than 50 outlets for us to browse. There will be food and drinks in the exquisite courtyard at this historic building and free parking, including to the rear of the building. Sounds like fun!
